Meditation and Spirituality

When you think of meditation, you probably think of it's Eastern origin. It has been used for centuries as a source to get grounded and centered.

It is a powerful tool!

If you already meditate, Great! Then you already know it's value.

If you don't, then you are in for a pleasant surprise.

This is just one exercise of many, but one that works for me. I hope that it will work for you as well!

Remember your "sacred space" that you have now created? Now is the time to use it!

Go to your sacred space, sit comfortably. Try to do this when you are alone or if you can shut a door to isolate yourself.

Put on some soft music if you want or silence is also beautiful.

Clear your mind...(I know, I know, stop thinking about the bills, the grocery list, work, what to make for dinner...etc..) You can always think about that stuff later!

Meditation Exercise

Slowly imagine every part of your body relaxing from the scalp of your head to the soles of your feet.

Slowly..going from your hair... to your scalp... to your forehead... to your eyelids..etc on down through your body until you reach your feet, toes, heels and soles of your feet. By that time you should be relaxed and only concentrating on your breathing.

Sometimes it helps to tighten the muscle for a count of three, then relax it for a count of three. Do whatever works for you.

Concentrate on slowing down your .. (count 1,2,3) get the idea.

Visualize white light all around encircling a bubble.

The light is warm and comfortable. Do you feel it? Can you see it inside your mind? Can you feel it's warmth? on your face..on your skin..

The white light is now going throught the top of your head, down through your chest, your arms, your hands, your fingers, your stomach, your abdomen, your legs, your feet, your toes...warming every part of you as it fills your body.

You are now filled with the white light and surrounded by the white light. You are filled with warmth..

You feel at one with your creator..

You begin to see yourself as beautiful, perfect in every way, the way God created you. The white light has washed out any negative energy or feelings that you had inside of you replacing them with peaceful, warm, content, positive thoughts of yourself..

You feel safe, happy, content, relaxed, connected to your creator.

Take about 15-20 minutes for this exercise, longer if you wish.

Repeat this exercise daily. By doing this repetitively, every time your mind goes to this relaxed, content state of being, it will become easier for you to "get there" every time you do it.

Eventually, during a busy, stressful day, you will be able to recall your "special state of being" and relax much easier and faster at home, in your sacred space or anywhere you choose.

You can also use meditation Time as a quiet time to listen for God's small, still voice to speak to you. Yes, he does speak to you sometimes. Most of us are too busy and our world is too loud and noisy for us to pay attention to what he has to say.

If you pay attention in your mind, you will know what He (or She if you prefer) wants you to know.

Think of a problem you may be having then dismiss it out of your mind. Clear your mind again. Sit and may see something in your mind's eye, or something may come to you in your mind. Some kind of thought, some kind of answer to your problem.

That is God's voice. How do you know it is him and not you? Well, that is where you have to trust your gut. I know that you will become good at that. You are a survivor, you have it in you!

Remember, God does not have to shout or throw lightening bolts at you to be heard! (Although sometimes he needs to speak LOUDLY to me in order for me to listen!)

Meditation is a priceless tool. Use it daily. You will find that your stress level will decrease and your overall well-being will increase.
